Introducing..
Kia ora, ko Alexis toku ingoa. Hi, my name is Alexis. I was born and raised in the Waitakere Ranges (just West of Auckland, NZ) but have since migrated North to the stunning Kaipara District with my husband and three kids. For the past 15 years I have worked as a Counsellor and CBT Therapist in the areas of Mental Health, Addictions and Trauma. Pottery started off as a hobby but soon became my main outlet for self-care, creativity and community. I love the process of forming clay earth into functional, or simply beautiful pieces. I love the transformative process of adding extreme heat to change the molecular structure of the earth; to vitrify the raw material into a much harder and more resilient state: Ceramics. So many metaphor’s for life I feel!?
Kaipara Wild studios was born out of my desire to introduce others to the wonderful medium of clay; as well as to somehow mix my knowledge and practice in the therapy world into inviting others into creativity, connection, community and healing.
